The Old lady Who lived in a Shoe Halloween Costume

The Old lady Who lived in a Shoe

We decided to try something new for Halloween this year. Our Daughter Oakley was the old lady who lived in a shoe. It was a hit, and she loved it.

First off we had to figure out what she was going to wear. The thrift shops where a god send at this point. We dug through every clothing bin trying to find the most grandma looking toddler clothes you could think of.

Next stop was the dollar store. We purchased "The Nerd Glasses", a dress up necklace, and a package of cotton balls.

The cotton balls were used to make the wig. I just started gluing them together until they fit over her head nicely. We cut the necklace and super glued it to the glasses for amazing results.

Now that her costume was done we needed to build her shoe. We found old cardboard and tapped it together around her stroller. We wanted to be able to remove the shoe so she could play in it with out having to sit in her stroller, so we never actually attached it to the stroller.

We painted the shoe brown, added on a window and a door. After all the paint was dry we placed Velcro strips randomly on the shoe. We attached all her baby dolls using Velcro that way when she tried to pull the dolls down she wouldn't ruin the Shoe House. We also use twine to create shoe laces, and made a duct tape picture frame using paper towel roll and white paper.

The Costume was a hit and Oakley loved it.
